I have a lot of girlfriends that bring their kids to a kid-friendly dentist, or a dentist that focuses just on kids, and I’ve thought about that, but it was easy to just have them come with me when I was coming in. The staff is just fantastic. I have a 9-month-age and a three-and-a-half-year-old and a five-and-a-half-year-old, and I bring them all in with me. And the girls at the front are playing with the baby or playing with my three-and-a-half-year-old daughter in the treasure chest while I’m getting my teeth cleaned. One of the things I love that they do is they show my son, my five-and-a-half-year-old son was just in a couple weeks ago, and they let him test out each instrument before they start. So he’ll get to hold the thing with the air, the water gun. They get down on his level, they let him play with all the stuff. It’s really funny and silly and not scary, and then they get to pick out a toy, or like five, from the treasure chest at the end of it. So, it’s a good experience for the kids.

One thing that Dr. Weddell and the staff do is they have a big stuffed animal. Last winter it was a seal, and it was a huge seal, and when we walked into the office, my son noticed it right away. He said, “Who’s that for?” And so then Susan was telling us that they’re doing a drawing for all kids that come in. They get to write their name down on a sheet. And the next day we got the phone call, and Susan had left a really fun message that they had pulled Ford’s name out of the fishbowl. So he got to come back in and he got presented with this

I live down in Savage and I continue to come up here because I’ve always had a pleasant experience. My husband and I have been coming to this office for 16 years. It started with Dr. Render and then Dr. Weddell took over and we wanted to go to one location. We’ve always had a really good experience with Dr. Weddell as well as his staff.

He’s a really nice guy and my kids really feel comfortable with him. When they come in, they really like the contest, the drawings for the big animals. My daughter actually won one of them. She was pretty excited about that. Dr. Weddell and his team have always been very accommodating and helpful.

Well, I just recently had a crown, my first crown, just in the last month or so. The second day that my temporary was on it fell off. I called right away and they were great about getting me in that day to be able to put it back on. They took care of me and then I got my real tooth and it hasn’t been a problem since. I’d highly recommend anyone with a busy family like ours to come to Dr. Weddell’s Dental Office.

I always feel very welcome when I walk into Dr. Weddell’s office, just because their staff is so kind, so caring, and they really love what they do. I talk to them on a personal level. Each time I do, they’re always intrigued to know who, what I’ve been up to, how’s my teeth, and so forth. I am interested in knowing who they are as well too. And so I asked him personal questions as well. So I love how they just are willing, are open in talking to me about anything honestly. So it’s very therapeutic when I come in here.

Dr. Weddell, he’s very, he’s always bubbly. I love that. I’m a bubbly person myself too. So when I come in he’s like, “Hey, it’s nice to see you.” And so I love that. It makes you just feel so welcome. And again I go back to that feeling welcome. It’s just, it’s a great feeling when somebody is great to see you, they greet you. He’s caring, he’s passionate, he’s dedicated for sure.

And so I got to know Dr. Weddell slightly on a personal level, his family so forth, and he has interest in knowing mine as well too. And that’s kind of how I kind of sticked with them throughout because he’s not just about business. He’s also more personal too.

Oral care is really high value. I value that a lot, it’s high priority for me. And because of that, I did a lot of research before coming to Dr. Weddell’s office. When I met Dr. Weddell, I was just delighted and I honestly couldn’t wait to have oral care and have Dr. Weddell as my dentist. And then in his office, he’s got some wonderful photography and those are from his personal experiences. It’s just a nice clinic.

He has an extensive education and an extensive historical perspective. He knows about certain studies that maybe, might be out of the blue, and he knew about them and he knew about the statistics. Leading up to my being able to come to see Dr. Weddell, I was very concerned that I had a root canal, because I had some sensitivity. He mapped out my mouth. He explained everything about what he mapped out in my mouth, all my teeth, everything. It wasn’t painful. I could be a part of it and that mattered to me. He took care of me. He confirmed that I have a healthy mouth. I felt like I had won the lottery really honestly. And I feel grateful that my research paid off that I feel I have a partner in my oral health. I think I have a beautiful smile that is going to stay beautiful thanks to Dr. Weddell.

I had a lot of pain in the gums, and I had real issues. Because when I was a kid – growing up I had nine brothers and two sisters, and I’m third from the bottom, and so by the time we got to me and my younger brother, younger sister, my mom’s calcium level was gone, and so our teeth was pretty bad. We had no care growing up. I grew up on a farm in Texas, and we never went to a doctor unless we were in pain. And so, I’ve had a lot of pain here when I’ve come in, and they took care of me. They do a great job, and they take care of you.

I’ve had implants. I’ve had extractions. I’ve had crowns. I’ve had basic care, and of course the cleaning services, which I have twice a year. Implants is just like a normal tooth. You just eat, and I have no problem whatsoever chewing on my – either side where I have the implants. They did a great job. They worked me in, worked me around me around … because back when I was actually working at Toro, I was traveling a lot. And so I’d come home on a Thursday night or something, and they’d work me in on a Friday, even though Friday is their day off. They’d still work me in, and Dr. Weddell has always told me, “If you ever have a problem over the weekend, my cell phone is on my line. You call it and you call me, and I’ll come out and take care of it.”

I was born with a couple missing teeth. I have a couple implants in my mouth. I also had reconstructive jaw surgery when I was in high school. I’ve had the expander, the retainer, the headgear, the braces, the whole gamut. Cavities and all that stuff, and now I just come to get my teeth cleaned, which feels really good to have all that behind me and to just come and get a freshen-up. All the stuff that I was getting was intense with implants and surgery and cavities and all the stuff that can go into your mouth, and I had it done at a later time in life. I got braces my sophomore year of high school when most people were maybe getting their braces off. I got my braces off right before my senior picture was taken. It’s hard to be in high school and have braces the whole time that you’re in high school. I had fears of just what that would look like, what that would feel like. I’ve actually never really felt pain when I’ve been here, which is really nice. I actually haven’t had cavities in a really long time, and I just had two my last visit, and I was devastated. I didn’t feel a thing when Dr. Weddell was putting in the Novocaine. He does a special trick where he’ll shake your lip so it triggers your brain to not feel the pain that’s coming in. But I didn’t feel a thing. With cavities, I was really concerned about that. Even after having all that dental work, it had been so long, and I tell my kids there’s nothing to worry about, but then when it’s you in the chair, you’re like, “Oh.” But it was great. It was really pain-free, which was nice.

Our senior voyage has been like many: we’re on Medicare, so their insurance really doesn’t have much of an effect on any dental work. Dr. Weddell’s plan does offer discount on his dental work, we have four appointments a year for cleaning and X-rays and fluoride treatments and general examinations. My wife and I are both involved with that cycle of preventative maintenance, and it’s by far the best because left up to my own, I probably wouldn’t visit until I had to, and I think I’ve been brought to the awareness that it is the best thing for us and me to have my mouth in good working order.
