My gums bleed sometimes. Is that serious?

Bleeding gums almost always indicate the presence of gum disease. Left untreated, gum disease can cause tooth loss and may even endanger your health. Our practice provides effective gum disease treatment to clear up the disease as well as dental cleanings and examinations to keep your mouth in great shape.

Can I get dental implants from you?

Absolutely. We work with an oral surgeon who will place the implant and then we provide the dental restoration – a single crown, a bridge, or even a full arch of dentures. We have a wide variety of implant options available at our dental practice.

Can I treat sleep apnea without a CPAP?

Sleep apnea is a problem that affects your overall health and comfort. People with untreated sleep apnea face a higher risk of heart disease or even stroke. The gold standard of sleep apnea treatment is the CPAP. The CPAP is notorious because it can be uncomfortable and sometimes disrupt sleep, both for you and any bed partner. It uses a machine, hose, and mask that you’ll have to wear at all times. For many people with mild to moderate sleep apnea, we can treat the problem with a simple oral device, and Dr. Weddell is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine for his experience with this type of treatment. The oral appliance fits on the lower teeth and positions the jaw forward to keep the airways open during sleep. It’s easy to travel with and will not disrupt your sleep or your bed partner’s sleep.

Do dental implants get cavities?

Even though dental implants look and feel like your natural teeth, they don’t get cavities. But you will still need to practice good oral hygiene to keep your gums and the bone beneath them healthy so your dental implants can last a lifetime.

Do I have to have my wisdom teeth removed?

Not everyone will need their wisdom teeth extracted. The only way to find out is to come in for a dental exam. Dr. Weddell can often tell you before your wisdom teeth begin to erupt whether it’s best to have them removed. If they’ve already begun to erupt and they’re causing you pain or overcrowding your teeth, we can schedule an appointment to have them extracted.
