Q: Can I Get Dental Implants From You?

A:

Absolutely. We are one of the rare general dental offices that both places the implant and provides the dental restoration – a single crown, a bridge, or even a full arch of dentures. We have a wide variety of implant options available at our dental practice.

Q: Can I Treat Sleep Apnea Without a CPAP?

A:

Sleep apnea is a problem that affects your overall health and comfort. People with untreated sleep apnea face a higher risk of heart disease or even stroke. The gold standard of sleep apnea treatment is the CPAP. The CPAP is notorious because it can be uncomfortable and sometimes disrupt sleep, both for you and any bed partner. It uses a machine, hose, and mask that you’ll have to wear at all times.

For many people with mild to moderate sleep apnea, we can treat the problem with a simple oral device. The oral appliance fits on the lower teeth and positions the jaw forward to keep the airways open during sleep. It’s easy to travel with and will not disrupt your sleep or your bed partner’s sleep.

Q: Do Dental Implants Get Cavities?

A:

Even though dental implants look and feel like your natural teeth, they don’t get cavities. But you will still need to practice good oral hygiene to keep your gums and the bone beneath them healthy so your dental implants can last a lifetime.

Q: Do I Have to Have My Wisdom Teeth Removed?

A:

Not everyone will need their wisdom teeth extracted. The only way to find out is to come in for a dental exam. Dr. Weddell or Dr. Harms can often tell you before your wisdom teeth begin to erupt whether it’s best to have them removed. If they’ve already begun to erupt and they’re causing you pain or overcrowding your teeth, we can schedule an appointment to have them extracted.

Q: My Gums Bleed Sometimes. Is That Serious?

A:

Bleeding gums almost always indicate the presence of gum disease. Left untreated, gum disease can cause tooth loss and may even endanger your health. Our practice provides effective, gum disease treatment to clear up the disease as well as dental cleanings and examinations to keep your mouth in great shape.

Q: What Should I Do in a Dental Emergency?

A:

Call us right away at 952-679-1365. If you’re having a dental emergency, we’ll do all we can to get you in for a same-day appointment. If you need help after hours, our voicemail provides Dr. Weddell’s personal cell phone number.

Q: When Is the Right Time For Cosmetic Dentistry?

A:

You don’t need to wait until a certain age to get cosmetic dentistry. And you shouldn’t assume it’s something reserved for only the wealthiest and most glamorous among us. It’s for everyone!

In fact, at Weddell Dental, we believe the right time for cosmetic dentistry is the moment you realize the things that make you unhappy or embarrassed about your smile’s appearance are keeping you from being your true self. Come and explore your cosmetic dentistry options and start loving your smile now!

Q: When Should I Bring My Child in For Their First Dentist Visit?

A:

Dr. Weddell or Dr. Harms and your little one should be introduced by your child’s first birthday. Our family dental office gives free exams to children under age 3.
