“Crowns and bridges are, in some ways, older technology in that they’ve been around for a long time. But the materials have improved so much more. They’re stronger, and much more cosmetic than they ever were. But they allow us to take a tooth that has been patched and repaired so many times where there is just not enough solid tooth left, and to cover the entire tooth and hold it together and strengthen it, so that it is a much more durable, stronger way to replace teeth. And it can replace missing teeth, some teeth that have been damaged while doing it. We can change the color, change the positioning, a lot of times. There’s a lot of things that we can do with the crowns. They work very well, and they’ve improved tremendously with the strength and the cosmetics, they are impossible to tell from natural teeth anymore. Twenty years ago, we could see a difference. Sometimes I will mix crowns with veneers. If there’s a couple of teeth that are broken down, we’ll put crowns on those teeth and put veneers on the other and mix them together so that they end up with beautiful results. And you can’t see the difference between crowns and veneers. They’re all hooked together. We’ve not only made things look nicer with the veneers, but with the crown, some of the teeth needed to be strengthened, and we took care of that. Here we’ve solved two problems at once, and all the patients know is they look beautiful and they smile, and they’re happy. They’re delighted.
Put Power Back Into Your Bite
A great smile is important for a number of reasons. You need your dental restorations and teeth replacements to provide the same function as healthy teeth. Crowns and bridges are:
- Versatile – They can repair broken teeth, chips, cracks, decay, infected teeth, worn-down teeth, and more.
- Strong – Our crowns and bridges are made of durable materials that give you plenty of chewing power.
- Durable – With proper care, restorations should last for at least seven years and often many years longer than that.
With the addition of dental implants to replace missing teeth, your bite can be even stronger. Implants act as replacement roots. This anchors your new teeth to your jaw, and it prevents bone loss in your jaw at the same time. Unlike a traditional bridge, a bridge attached to implants requires no alteration of healthy teeth.
