Crowns and bridges are, in some ways, older technology in that they've been around for a long time. But the materials have improved so much more. They're stronger, and much more cosmetic than they ever were. But they allow us to take a tooth that has been patched and repaired so many times where there is just not enough solid tooth left, and to cover the entire tooth and hold it together and strengthen it, so that it is a much more durable, stronger way to replace teeth. And it can replace missing teeth, some teeth that have been damaged while doing it. We can change the color, change the positioning, a lot of times. There's a lot of things that we can do with the crowns. They work very well, and they've improved tremendously with the strength and the cosmetics, they are impossible to tell from natural teeth anymore. Twenty years ago, we could see a difference.
Sometimes I will mix crowns with veneers. If there's a couple of teeth that are broken down, we'll put crowns on those teeth and put veneers on the other and mix them together so that they end up with beautiful results. And you can't see the difference between crowns and veneers. They're all hooked together. We've not only made things look nicer with the veneers, but with the crown, some of the teeth needed to be strengthened, and we took care of that. Here we've solved two problems at once, and all the patients know is they look beautiful and they smile, and they're happy. They're delighted.

Enjoy the Versatility of Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are often used for replacement teeth on a dental bridge, but these versatile restorations can also be used to:
- Restore a dental implant.
- Repair a cracked or broken tooth weakened by trauma.
- Cover and strengthen a tooth after cavity or root canal treatment.
- Correct the appearance of a misshapen or badly discolored tooth.
Dental Bridges Replace Missing Teeth
For a fixed bridge, porcelain dental crowns are used as replacement teeth and are connected to crowns that we bond to your natural teeth for support. After your procedure, you’ll want to continue to care for your smile by:
- Flossing daily.
- Brushing your teeth twice a day.
- Visiting us every six months.
Regular checkups will help maintain the health of your teeth supporting your bridge, so you can get the maximum number of years possible out of your tooth replacement option.
Dentures & Dental Implants Give You Even More Options
If replacing your missing teeth with a dental bridge doesn’t sound like the right solution for you, or if you’re missing all or most of your teeth, you might be interested in dentures or dental implants.
Dentures are replacement teeth we design to look like your natural teeth. Traditional dentures fit over your gums and are held in place by your saliva or adhesive, while dental implant dentures use implants for a more secure hold.
Dental implants are often praised for their ability to look, feel, and function just like your natural teeth. They bond with your jawbone, so you never have to worry about pastes or your replacement teeth coming loose. During your consultation, Dr. Weddell can further discuss your options with you.
Don’t despair – repair and replace your teeth with Bloomington dental crowns and bridges. Call Weddell Dental today at 952-679-1365 to schedule your appointment. We look forward to helping you smile again!
